A light, fresh lunch at The Bench, Clerkenwell, London

An ideal spot for a healthy lunch and good shopping if you stroll along the tranquil streets of Clerkenwell. Open every day of the week, The Bench offers their vegetable buffet and sweet counter in a room bathing in natural light where the kids do not disturb anyone.

The Décor
The Bench is on the ground floor of Goldsmiths cultural center, a trading spot for jewelers, goldsmiths, and designers; it is a satellite location of the famous British jewelery chain of the same name. Sit for breakfast or lunch in this carefully decorated, clean, white, room and make a small gesture towards supporting local artisans and apprentices.

The Food
Here you design your own meal according to your desires: Scotch eggs (fried meat fritters filled with a boiled egg), grilled chicken and vegetable pie, soup of the day, wraps or sandwiches with egg … Particular attention is paid to allergy: an expert is even available to tell you which foods may contain traces of allergens … Accompanying, vegetable assortments (carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, beans, broccoli, etc.), salads and tabbouleh revisited promise a lunch as light as generous. Take the opportunity to taste the pasteis de nata, Three chocolate cookies or gluten free brownie with chocolate and salted caramel.

For Kids
Here we meet many other young mothers on lunch break who enjoy the friendly staff and atmosphere that tolerates a noisy kid. The restaurant has two high-chairs, the kitchen readily reduces the portion sizes for kids, and tables and sofas are spaced widely for families and strollers.

We Love …
… having a healthy lunch on the terrace without breaking the bank.
