FelixPakhuis : super-trendy brunch in Antwerp

In the up-and-coming neighborhood of Antwerp where food establishments are flourishing on the docks of Belgium’s trendy capital, discover FelixPakhuis, perfect for family brunch. Nestle into a Chesterfield sofa in this former warehouse or, on a sunny day, enjoy the terrace, just steps from the water, while the kids frolic and enjoy.

The Location
This à la mode neighborhood is located on the docks of the Eilandje district, on the edge of the water, and just steps from the amazing architecture of the Museum aan de Stroom (MAS); FelixPakhuis cooks up its specialties at the foot of the river. The restaurant is a former warehouse, to which the décor pays homage with exposed brick and high, industrial ceilings. In summer come to enjoy the entirely revamped port area or escape from the rain during the winter.

The Food
This ultra-spacious restaurant is decorated to the detail, but it never forgets its roots with its brick floors, painted beams, wooden tables, and long vintage inspired bar. In this updated industrial atmosphere, FelixPakhuis serves savory brasserie style food and revisited classic Flemish dishes, like Carbonade or other popular dishes like fish and chips and burgers. For wine beginners : the menu recommends the perfect pairing for each plate. On Sundays we gladly flock to brunch to enjoy the savory and sweet buffets. A favorite detail ? Individual petits pains chauds brought to the table in a paper sack.

For Kids
Strollers fit without problem between the tables at this spacious spot. Regulars reserve the corner of the room, with cozy arm chairs and Chesterfield sofas, which children are at leisure to enjoy before their brunch. They can dance and play in the hallways of this former warehouses and it is easy to keep an eye on them through the huge windows. In summer, the terrace gives them free rein to play games, while adults enjoy their pastries at the water’s edge.

We Love…
… the Flemish service with a smile; the servers are happy to practice their French and to share tips about the area.
…The nearby deli, where restaurant owners offer the gourmet products they have discovered in their travels, like Italian olive oils or Spanish preserves.
… the Belgian chocolate which we take home by the basket.
… a little plus: the folk soundtrack with singers like Angus and Julia Stone and Jack Johnson

To Discover
The neighboring restaurant Balls and Gloryto try the healthiest and most delicious meatballs in Belgium; they will get your kids on board with the new wave of healthy fast food with just one bite.
