The Location
In the heart of Bordeaux, steps from la Place Pey-Berland, Mama Shelter is squeezed in by the old Bordeaux gas tower. After two years of work, the people of Bordeaux can finally enjoy Philippe Starck’s new trendy, bric-a-brac chic address which opened last October. Colorful children’s floaties suspend from the bar where you can enjoy tapas, a giant baby’s foot takes center stage in the middle of the restaurant, and do not miss the ping pong room with walls covered in pink candy: it is the ideal place for those of us who are children at heart.
The Food
The menu will delight your taste buds: sea bream ceviche, Mama’s fish and chips, or M. Senderen’s cheese burger, it is a menu of classics. If the plates are not enough, try the desserts that are sure to remind you of your own childhood (rice pudding, banana-hot fudge sundae) and are perfect to combat the truly hungry. Foodies can not resist Mama Shelter’s Sunday brunch of pastries, an appetizer buffet, hot plates, and desserts galore.
For Kids
The reception is particularly nice for families; smiles for the children, high-chairs made available by Drucker, a stroller garage at the entrance : the team bends over backwards to welcome their little customers and to help parents. Think about reserving one of the tables with a couch, which will particularly please your little ones. Kids have their own menu which comes with a “Pochette Mama” holding a coloring book, crayons, and stickers.
